at CSUSB developed through a partnership with the Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT) program in San Diego, CA.
The success of that program generated support and funding for a similar effort at CSUSB. CCAT was created by several key players in the San Diego area: the College of Business Administration at San Diego State University; the Entrepreneurial Management Center (EMC), ranked among the top twenty-five schools for entrepreneurship; The Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego, a top-ranked engineering school; ORINCON Corporation International, an established and highly successful defense and commercial contractor; and SPAWAR Systems Center San Diego, a premier naval laboratory. The SDSU Foundation provides fiscal and administrative oversight for the CCAT program. CCAT and OTTC work in partnership to promote the economic development of their respective regions. Funding for both programs is primarily provided through contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense. In return, both programs assist the DOD in adapting new technologies in such areas as homeland security and defense, environmental restoration and other As a member of the Congressional Appropriations Committee, the Hon. Jerry Lewis has been particularly supportive of these efforts and deserves much credit for the creation of OTTC at CSUSB. Both the Congressman and the University see technology transfer and commercialization as key to economic growth in the Inland Empire. By facilitating expansion of the region's high-tech business sector, OTTC will clearly help create new jobs and generate wealth. To enhance these efforts, CSUSB has also formed a partnership with Active Capital (formerly ACE-Net), a national organization of venture investors. OTTC and Active Capital will join forces and provide workshops and online educational programs to assist entrepreneurs and investors with the commercialization of their technologies. This will include access to Active Capital secure database and other valuable information for entrepreneurs seeking investment capital for their companies.
