Tim Gerrity is the director of the Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization. Over his career, he has held multiple positions of responsibility in academia, government, and industry as a medical researcher, policy maker, and medical technology expert. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Noventus Medical, a company focused on medical device commercialization. Prior to that he was the founding director of the Bioengineering Institute at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, creating an innovation network of over 300 medical device professionals in Massachusetts. He arrived at WPI from Washington DC where he held posts as a researcher at Georgetown University, and as Assistant Chief Research and Development Officer for the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of R&D, a $1 billion/year program. Earlier, as a scientist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, he pioneered new methods for diagnosing lung diseases. Over the course of his career, he has held academic positions at the schools of medicine of the University of Illinois, University of North Carolina, Georgetown University, and in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is widely published in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Applied Physiology, and IEEE Transactions in Biomedical Engineering. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in physics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and received post-doctoral training in pulmonary physiology at University of Illinois School of Medicine
Joelle Gonzales is the director’s assistant/office coordinator for the OTTC office and has been with the organization since June 2004. She brings over 30 years of experience to the OTTC office coordinating most of the administrative tasks for both OTTC and CCAT San Bernardino program.
Jeffrey Thompson serves as the executive director for OTTC. He is also the associate provost for research at CSUSB. Dr. Thompson is a Professor of Biology, having served as the Chair of Biology for 7 years, and has been with the university for the past 19 years. Previously he was a member of the College of Medicine, Department of Cell and Structural Biology, at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign where he was also on the faculty of bioengineering in the College of Engineering. Dr. Thompson received a bachelor’s degree in physics at Michigan State University and earned his Ph.D. in molecular biophysics at Florida State University. After receiving his Ph.D., he was a Staff Fellow in the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the National Institute of Aging at the National Institutes of Health.
Julie Amador assumed the technology program manager position for OTTC in October 2005. Her role within OTTC is to participate in the solicitation process, analyze and evaluate all aspects of identified technologies, provide client manager support to identified technologies, and act as a liaison between the organization, the technology companies, and the appropriate government agencies. She earned a J.D. degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center and holds B.S. in biology from the University of California, Riverside.
As the OTTC Sr. Technology Program Manager, Juli Gandasatria assists in the coordination and assessment of the program needs and assists with the implementation of procedures that provides overall direction of the program. She manages and coordinates all aspects of the technology awards with the goal of commercialization. Previously, she was the business and technology analyst for the Army Technology Transfer Program at CSUSB. Juli holds an M.D. from Trisakti University, Indonesia and earned an M.B.A. in Finance and a Certificate in Accounting from CSUSB.
With OTTC since July 2003, Dung Vu is the database manager and system analyst at OTTC. He manages and maintains the entire OTTC information infrastructure including servers for all databases, the OTTC website, email, and streaming video applications and is also involved in developing the Active Capital system. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science at University of California, Riverside and currently holds a masters degree in computer science from CSUSB.
